Immunohematology: Special laboratory services in hemotherapy One of the main tasks of the ZTB is the transfusion medical supply of the clinics of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin as well as other hospitals and medical practices in Berlin, Brandenburg and other federal states. In addition to general immunohematology such as blood group determinations, crossmatches and antibody addiction tests, this also includes the special immunohematological diagnostics of patients with allo-, auto- or drug-induced immune hemolysis, the clarification of transfusion reactions, the follow-up of transplant patients as well as the molecular genetic blood group determination in unclear serological results. In the platelet laboratory, tests are carried out for platelet antibodies and antigens (HPA), for example in the context of neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT), immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or heparin-induced thrombocytopenia type II (HIT II). Furthermore, platelet function tests and flow cytometric examinations are carried out routinely in the case of hereditary thrombocytopathies. The examination of granulocyte antigens / antibodies (HNA system) is also offered. The laboratories are recognized reference laboratories and are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
