Tabak and Pulver

At the time of the Prussian kings, tobacco products were traded in pharmacies. Even the Great Elector and his tobacco college became a pipe smoker, Frederick the Great preferred snuff. Philosophers, scholars, artists, generals, statesmen and all sorts of other people did the same. The cigar became popular in the 19th century, and it was the early days of a number of major tobacco merchants. The cigarette industry was already dominant in the market in the middle of the 20th century. Old Blucher gets his tobacco and Wellington gets his powder.
