A static report commissioned by the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg District Office has shown that the bank wall, which extends on the Friedrichshain side of the Spree from the Schilling Bridge to the Energy Forum, is no longer stable.
The district administration - which is also the owner of the site and is responsible for the maintenance of the wall - ordered the YAAM to cordon off the bank areas on a 5m wide strip on June 24, 2020. On June 26th, contrary to previous agreements , the main building was also officially blocked and sealed. The operators were given a few hours to clear the offices and interiors. A written justification for the blocking was not sent.
Update: In the meantime, we have the investigation that shows the urgency of a complete renewal of the bank. This work is expected to take years. Until then, the bank can be expected to remain closed.
The building was opened on July 10th. released for internal use again. For public use of the event hall, however, a new emergency exit must be implemented and approved by a fire safety inspector and the building authority. We hope to have these structural steps implemented and approved from November 2020.
Final examinations of the building structure of our hall are still in progress. From October there will be a monthly jour fixe with the district office and the companies involved. We still call for these investigations to be concluded quickly and transparently. At the beginning of November there will be a workshop day with City Councilor Florian Schmidt and the Club Commission on the further perspective of the YAAM.
